Ingredients

  • 4 cups frozen cut green beans
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions (divided)

Equipment

  • 2-quart baking dish
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Medium saucepan
  • Spatula or mixing spoon
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Boil frozen green beans in salted water for 2–3 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain thoroughly.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and seasoned salt.
  3. Fold in the drained green beans and 1 cup of crispy fried onions. Stir to coat evenly.
  4. Transfer mixture to a 2-quart baking dish. Spread evenly and bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes until hot and bubbly.
  5. Remove from oven. Stir gently, then top with remaining 1/2 cup of crispy fried onions. Return to oven and bake for 10 more minutes until golden and crispy.

Notes

Use frozen, canned, or blanched fresh green beans. Don't skip the soy sauce—it adds umami depth. Add cheese or bacon for variations. Drain green beans thoroughly to prevent a watery casserole.
