Ingredients

  • 6 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1-inch fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 20 mini frozen wontons
  • 1 1/2 cups shiitake mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 baby bok choy, halved
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Sliced scallions, for garnish

Method

  1. Bring chicken broth to a boil. Smash ginger and add it along with garlic. Simmer covered for 5 minutes.
  2. Add halved bok choy to the pot. Simmer uncovered for 5 minutes to soften.
  3. Add frozen wontons and sliced mushrooms. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until wontons are cooked through and bok choy is tender.
  4. Stir in soy sauce and sesame oil. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Divide into bowls. Garnish with sliced scallions and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, don’t overcook the wontons. Use a quality low-sodium broth as your base. Customize with added protein, noodles, or spice for a heartier bowl. To store, keep wontons separate from broth if possible.
