Easy & Creamy Banana Matcha Latte

This easy and creamy banana matcha latte is a delightful drink that combines the earthy notes of matcha with the sweet, smooth flavor of banana. It's simple to prepare and can be enjoyed as a refreshing beverage or a gentle pick-me-up.

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 4 g matcha powder about 2 tsp
  • 50 g hot water (175°F or 79°C), about ¼ cup
  • 120 g milk of your choice about ½ cup
  • 1 tbsp overripe banana add more for stronger banana flavor
  • 5-10 g sugar about 1-2 tsp
  • vanilla extract tiny splash, optional
  • as needed Ice
For Brûléed Banana Garnish (Optional)
  • 1 Banana slice
  • generous layer Sugar

  • Whisk (bamboo or small regular)
  • Blender
  • Glass
  • Torch or Broiler (for garnish)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Sift matcha powder into a bowl to prevent clumping, then add hot water and whisk quickly in a W motion for 20 seconds until frothy.
  2. Optionally, lift the whisk slightly and slowly whisk out larger bubbles to achieve a microfoam, then set aside the matcha.
  3. Combine half of the milk with the banana, sugar, and optional vanilla extract, then blend until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Pour the blended banana milk into a glass over ice, then stir in the remaining milk.
  5. Gently pour the prepared matcha over the banana milk mixture in the glass.
  6. Optionally, garnish your latte with a brûléed banana slice before serving and enjoying.
How to Make Brûléed Banana Garnish (Optional)
  1. Sprinkle a generous layer of sugar over a banana slice, then use a torch or broiler until the sugar caramelizes and turns golden brown; repeat on the other side.

Notes

For a stronger banana flavor, you can add more overripe banana. Ensure your hot water for matcha is around 175°F (79°C) to prevent burning the matcha. The brûléed banana garnish is a fantastic addition for extra flair and flavor.
