Preparation
- Melt half of the chocolate chips in a mixing bowl.
- Combine the melted chocolate with the entire tub of Cool Whip.
- Pour the mixture into a square pan lined with plastic wrap and spread it into an even layer.
- Freeze for about 30 minutes to allow the mixture to harden.
- Remove the pan from the freezer and lift the plastic wrap to take out the chocolate candy mixture.
- Cut the mixture into bars of your desired size.
- Melt the remaining milk chocolate along with the vegetable shortening.
- Dip each candy bar into the melted chocolate to fully coat it.
- Place the chocolate-covered candy pieces back into the freezer for approximately an hour, or until completely firm.
- Enjoy your homemade candy bars.
Notes
For the best results, use high-quality milk chocolate. You can also experiment with dark chocolate for a richer flavor profile.
