  • 2 Tbsp. heavy cream at room temperature
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract

  • Stand mixer
  • Paddle attachment
  • Large bowl
  • Hand mixer

Method

Method
  1. In a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment or a large bowl with a hand mixer, beat the room-temperature butter on medium-high speed until it becomes creamy and light, which takes about 2 minutes.
  2. Reduce the speed to low, add half of the powdered sugar, and mix until combined. Incorporate the heavy cream, then add the vanilla and the remaining powdered sugar, mixing until fully incorporated.
  3. Increase the mixer speed to medium-high and beat the frosting for about 3 minutes until it is light and fluffy.

Notes

For best results, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature. This will help prevent a lumpy frosting and ensure a smooth, creamy texture. This buttercream is perfect for piping onto cupcakes or frosting a layer cake.
